Aloren and Rick About to Be Interviewed by Me

This photo is a supplement to a video I have on YouTube, you can see this video here:

Aloren is a teenager living a rural Buddhist tribe in the Chittagong Hill-Tracts of Bangladesh. He’s goal is to get good enough grades so that he could one day study in a foreign university. The Chittagong Hill-Tracts is one of the poorest places in Bangladesh. It doesn’t also help that it’s also a very malaria heavy region. Aloren, I’m told, has had malaria anywhere from 9 to 10 times. Virtually every year since before he was a teenager.

Aloren is getting help with his studies and other expenses because Rick Davis (a school teacher at the American International School in Dhaka and PeaceCorps veteran) decided to sponsor Aloren. Rick helped bring me to this village and – using YouTube – I was able to get in touch with a very supportive community and help bring money to sponsor two additional children.

I took this photo just before I sat down to interview Aloren and Rick as part of my YouTube video.
