12-106 Turbostar Class 172-103 at Marylebone

12-106 Turbostar Class 172-103 at Marylebone

Taken 08/06/12: Chiltern Railways supplemented their Class 165 Networker Turbo fleet by obtaining four two-car Class Turbostar units as part of the same order which saw London Overground acquire eight examples of the class. Delays in delivery meant the units did not enter service until the summer of 2011. The Chiltern Railway units differ from the London Overground units in that they are fitted with ATP. However, for reasons far too technical for me to grasp, the Networker unit’s ATP does not work on the Aylesbury to Amersham branch, meaning they can only operate on that section as the middle unit of a three unit formation
